RUSSIAN TRANSIT VISA APPLICATION

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS

A Transit visa is a permission in the form of an adhesive label printed and added to a traveler’s passport. It allows its holder to enter, stay, and leave Russia within a specified period. It contains the following information:

  • the validity of the visa,
  • the numbers of transits allowed,
  • vital information,
  • passport details.

Transit visas are issued for Persons entering the Russian Federation for transit through its territory. The transit visa can be single entry and valid for up to 10 days (for transit travel by road or rail) or up to 3 days (for transit by air) and double-entry valid for a total period of 30 days, where for each journey it is valid up to 10 days (for transit travel by road or rail) or up to 3 days (for transit travel by air).

Transit Visa is not required if you remain in the transit zone of the airport within 24 hours of arrival. Transit visas are valid for a maximum of 3 days if traveling by air and 10 if traveling by train.
Persons traveling to and from Belarus via Russian Federation need to obtain a transit Russian visa irrespectively of their length of stay in the airport.

RUSSIAN TRANSIT VISA REQUIREMENTS

  1. Transit visa required a photocopy of your ticket to and from Russia in case you are traveling by air/train/coach. Or if you are traveling by car, your need to provide the following: a covering letter explaining the purpose as well as the routes of the journey and a photocopy of the car registration certificate, stating the details of the owner and the vehicle. A Transit visa would be issued based on the fastest journey to the destination. The average daily distance to be covered by car should not be less than 500 km.
  2. Please complete the Visa Application Form. This form should be completed, saved, and submitted online here: https://visa.kdmid.ru and then printed out. Kindly ensure that the first page of your visa application form is signed and dated in the designated area. If an applicant is a minor, one of the parents must sign the application form. Unsigned visa application forms will not be accepted.
  3. If you have difficulties completing the Visa Application Form online, please email the complete the PDF form here and send it to info@dvservices.ca  the additional charge of $50+tax, will be applied, including for verification and corrections.
  4. Valid passport. The current passport should be valid for a minimum of six months after the visa’s expiration date or exit date from Russia and has at least 2 blank visa pages which do not need to be consecutive.
  5. One color photograph that must be professionally taken within the last six months; must be color and taken against a white background with the face in focus about 75%; size: 35mm X 45 mm (1 3/8’’ X 1 3/4’’); non-smiling (without sunglasses and head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background); printed on photographic paper and date stamped.
  6. A cover letter from each applicant explaining the purpose of transiting, period of traveling and cities to be visited from the beginning of your trip to the End.
  7. A medical insurance coverage of a minimum of 30,000 EUR for all European citizens.
  8. Non-Canadian and Non-US applicants must provide a copy of the document confirming their current resident status in Canada (PR Card, Landed Document, Work Permit).
  9. Former USSR or Russian Federation citizens who emigrated from the USSR or Russia before February 6, 1992, must provide a document confirming that they are no longer the citizens of the Russian Federation.

Please note: Consulates of the Russian Federation in Canada reserve the right to request additional documents such as bank statements, accommodation reservations, transportation tickets, proofs of family ties, additional letters from hosts, etc. as well as invite an applicant for an interview or extend visa processing time. The Document and Visa Cervices is not involved in the process of assessment of visa applications and shall not be liable or responsible for any delay by the Consulates of the Russian Federation in Canada, in assessing, granting, or refusing any visa application.
